2009 was ok, but 2010 is destined for greatness. We have so much to give and do and try and see this next year. We have plans and God has better plans.
We broke in the New Year at the Victory Outreach Austin TX Motown & Oldies Review Show.
Corey was John Fogerty and sang a remix of "Fortunate Son". He did so great and the church had never really heard him sing before so they were amazed and went nuts when he started. The entire night was fun and entertaining and a great way to ring in the the New Year. We even had Evangelist Fernando there, who is always a treat and a blessing to us.
Lily and I spent the 1st day of the year with Grandma and Grandpa and we ate the customary black-eyed peas, along with stuffing from Thanksgiving and sweet potatoes. We cooked the chicken, the whole chicken in the Microwave in about 40 minutes. Grandma was trying out a new Pampered Chef stoneware set and was told the directions, so we gave it a try and decided we would blame the direction giver (Aunt Nancy) if nothing came out right. We stuffed it with an onion and some celery and fresh Rosemary from the yard. That was one of the best chickens I have ever tasted and it came out so quick! So, we learned something new in the New Year!

100 thing challenge
We are going to participate in the 100 thing challenge and see how it will help us get rid of things we don't really need.
http://www.guynameddave.com/100-thing-challenge.html
I thought it meant throw/give away 100 things but really it is getting rid of all BUT 100 things-personal items only, shared items like linens, dishes, furniture etc do not count.
We will update the list as we start it.

It's a ...

Chloe will be here in late April 2010
Lily is excited about sharing a room with her little sister and she will be the best big sister ever.
Here is our side view of Chloe. I had to flip the picture because she was head down.
Here is Lily test driving the double stroller.
She can ride in the front or the back if she wants.

And here am I so far.
I look much bigger after
eating anything :)

What a great Fall!

We had a great time at Susie and Dwight's church pumpkin patch taking pictures with Lily. A cold front had just blown in so it actually felt like autumn. She got all dressed up as a butterfly for Halloween and we celebrated a fall fun fest at church, complete with a "Krunk your Trunk" trick or treating. We even decorated our trunk. Our bible study came together to set up a balloon bust booth. The kids had a great time tossing the darts at the tiny balloons. Some of those kids are a pretty good aim!

Lily was so sugared out at the end I can't believe she went to sleep at all.

Can I borrow $5
A woman came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find her 5-year old son waiting for her at the door
SON: 'Mummy, may I ask you a
question?'
MUM: 'Yeah sure, what it is?'
replied the woman.
SON: 'Mummy, how much
do you make an hour?'
MUM: 'That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?' the woman said
angrily.
SON: 'I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?'
MUM: 'If you must know, I make $20 an hour'
SON: 'Oh,' the little boy replied, with his head down.
SON: "Mummy, may I please
borrow $5?"
The mother was furious, 'If
the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I don't work hard everyday for such childish frivolities.'
The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door...
It's just a short reminder to all
of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip
through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to
us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $20 worth of your time with someone you love.
If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of hours. But the family
& friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

The woman sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?
After about an hour or so, the woman had calmed down , and started to think:
Maybe there was something
he really needed to buy with that $5 and he really didn't ask for money very often. The woman went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.
'Are you asleep, son?' She asked.
'No Mummy, I'm awake,'
replied the boy.
'I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier' said the woman. 'It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $5 you asked for.'
The little boy sat straight up,
smiling. 'Oh, thank you Mummy!' he yelled. Then,
reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills.
The woman saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.
The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his mother.
'Why do you want more money if you already have some?' the mother grumbled.
'Because I didn't have enough, but now I do,' the little boy replied.
'Mummy, I have $20 now. Can I buy an hour of your time?
Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have
dinner with you.'
The mother was crushed. She put his arms around her little son, and she begged for his
forgiveness.

any cheese with that swine?
Corey got a cold that lasted more than a few days and since he works at a hospital, they strongly suggested that he go to the doctor. The initial diagnosis was an upper respiratory infection, but the nurse returned to say he had a slight positive for the flu. Yes, H1N1. His fever never broke 101 and he never got vomiting or anything like that. Had we Googled Tamiflu before spending $90 on medication, we would have treated it the old fashioned way, with chicken noodle soup and some Vitamin C. The medication itself is worthless if you don't start it within 48 hours. Why the doctor did not disclose that fact is a bit baffling. So Lily and I got the bed to ourselves while Corey suffered the night on the couch (suffering due to the couch being leather and therefore not very breathable).
He starts back to work tomorrow, and will be sure to let his boss know that she caused him to use all his paid time off because she refused to cover her mouth when she coughed when she was working with the flu.
Lily and I have been punctual with our vitamins so we didn't catch the flu...you better believe Corey will take his supplements from now on!
Deadly- no, time consuming- yes and the medication- worthless and it made Corey super tired.
